So that's why it was done in this fashion. I am, however intrigued by your suggestion to apply the tea and coffee to the wood before the vinegar/steel wool mix. I may try that in a follow-up post!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13196639945549753392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5902467354655122204.post-37486940896626244772013-07-17T07:54:37.220-07:002013-07-17T07:54:37.220-07:00You are not creating a stain, you are creating a c...You are not creating a stain, you are creating a chemical that reacts with tannins inherent in some woods. The color of the liquid does not matter. The clear liquid will still turn wood black if the steel wool is dissolved in it. The tea and coffee should be applied to the wood to increase the surface tannins BEFORE you apply the vinegar/iron mixture. Combining them in the jar means the chemical reaction occurs in the bottle not on the wood. I am pretty sure this uses up the chemicals and weakens their affect when applied to the wood.JonasBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08241997731459914245noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5902467354655122204.post-33290540768341348192012-11-15T08:21:54.039-08:002012-11-15T08:21:54.039-08:00I'm dying to see what happens!!!I'm dying to see what happens!!!tamgronewold@aol.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02489653138000532693noreply@blogger.com
